GeoJobs360 is highlighting an exciting career opportunity for experienced geoscience professionals! IOTA GROUP is seeking a highly skilled Wellsite Geologist to oversee offshore drilling operations in Paramaribo, Suriname.

This is a 24-month rotational assignment (4 weeks on / 4 weeks off) supporting major offshore exploration and development activities. If you have a solid background in real-time geological surveillance, M-LWD QA/QC, and contractor supervision, this role offers an ideal step forward in your international career.

Key Responsibilities

The Wellsite Geologist will supervise rig-site geological operations in close coordination with onshore subsurface teams and operational personnel. Main duties include:

• Supervise rig-site geological operations and data acquisition programs.
• Coordinate and oversee contractor services, including mud logging, M-LWD, Wireline E-Logging, and coring teams.
• Perform real-time QA/QC, validation, and basic interpretation of mud logging, MWD, and LWD data.
• Monitor geological surveillance from cuttings descriptions and shows to composite logs and daily well reports.
• Support safety and operational decisions by identifying drilling hazards in real time (e.g., fluid losses, gas gains, overpressure, swelling clays).
• Assist with key operational milestones: coring points, casing points, and drilling section Total Depth (TD) decisions.
• Ensure full application of wellsite safety procedures, standing orders, and stop-card systems.
• Manage proper sampling dispatch (rock cuttings and fluid samples) from the rig to the shore base.
• Prepare comprehensive End of Well Reports (EOWR) and daily operational updates for the local office.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Experience: Proven track record as a Wellsite Geologist on offshore drilling operations.
• Technical Expertise: Strong working knowledge of mud logging gas data, drilling parameters, LWD/MWD data interpretation, and wireline operations.
• Operational Skills: Experience with geosteering, well trajectory monitoring, and reservoir entry/exit detection.
• Safety Culture: Strong commitment to HSE standards, proactive hazard reporting, and stop-work authority.
• Language: Fluency in spoken and written English is mandatory.
• Communication: Strong interpersonal skills to interface smoothly with drilling crews, service contractors, and subsurface office teams.
