Main Functions
Interpret and integrate geological data to provide complete wellsite geological support for oil field drilling operations. Deliver optimized horizontal wellbore placement, final well reports, updated horizontal cross-sections, maps, and formation evaluation logs. Provide technical geological support for interdisciplinary reservoir studies and field development plans while mentoring junior staff.
Tasks & Responsibilities
- Personnel & Operational Supervision: Supervise all wellsite geological personnel and services, including mudlogging, Logging While Drilling (LWD), Wireline (WL) services, and core processing with strict quality assurance.
- Geological Monitoring: Oversee real-time geological operations, coring, wireline logging, and mudlogging activities.
- Operations Coordination: Act as primary point of contact for third-party geological vendors, coordinate pre-drill planning, monitor data acquisition, and audit services.
- Abnormal Pressure Surveillance: Ensure abnormal pressure parameters are captured accurately on pressure evaluation logs and reviewed immediately with operations geologists and drilling supervisors.
- Post-Drill Reporting: Compile and distribute Well Completion Reports, verify vendor invoices, and coordinate sample and log shipments.
Skills & Qualifications
- Degree: BS or MS in Geology from a recognized institution.
- Experience: Field experience as a Wellsite Geologist, including offshore platform and deviated well drilling using LWD and Wireline technologies.
- Certifications: Valid OPITO-approved certifications in HUET (Helicopter Underwater Escape Training), Sea Survival, and H2S Safety passed within the last 2 years (must remain valid throughout project duration).
- Skills: Excellent written and spoken English, strong organizational abilities, and physical fitness to meet offshore project safety standards.
