🛠️ Key Roles & Responsibilities
As a key member of the engineering supervision team on site, your duties will include:
- Site Inspection & Supervision: Inspect site geotechnical works including ground excavations, backfilling, compaction, embankments, foundations, shoring, dewatering, ground improvement, and retaining structures.
- Method Statements & ITPs: Review and approve geotechnical method statements, Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs), and field checklists while monitoring contractor adherence.
- Standards & Compliance: Verify materials and workmanship against standards such as ASTM, BS, Eurocode 7, AASHTO, and local Abu Dhabi municipal codes.
- Field & Lab Testing Witnessing: Witness and evaluate field and lab testing procedures including SPT/CPT, plate load tests, density/Proctor tests, permeability, Atterberg limits, consolidation, triaxial (UU/CU/CD), and aggregate compliance.
- Deep Foundations & QA/QC: Oversee deep foundation activities including pile installation, drilling operations, QA/QC records, pile integrity testing (PIT), dynamic/static load tests, and as-built evaluations.
- Geotechnical Instrumentation: Monitor and analyze trends from settlement plates, piezometers, inclinometers, and strain gauges to recommend engineering mitigations.
- Temporary Works & Reporting: Assess temporary excavation support and dewatering stability, prepare daily inspection records, manage NCRs, and compile close-out packages.
🎓 Candidate Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Geotechnical Engineering (Master’s degree preferred).
- Licensure: Professional Engineering (PE) license or equivalent professional certification.
- Experience: Minimum 10+ years of hands-on experience in geotechnical engineering and site supervision.
- Regional Knowledge: Proven record on large-scale construction developments in the UAE or Middle East.
- Technical Skills: Proficient in AutoCAD, geotechnical analysis software, local Abu Dhabi building codes, and international engineering standards.
- Communication: Fluent verbal and written English communication skills.
