About the Role
Wireline Premier Downhole Geophysics is looking for a qualified Geophysicist to support borehole geophysical logging operations for active mining and mineral exploration projects. In this position, you will be responsible for processing, quality controlling, interpreting, and reporting accurate geophysical data.
Working closely with Operations, Geologists, Field Engineers, and Project Managers, your output will directly contribute to resource evaluation, geological modelling, geotechnical investigations, hydrogeological studies, and overall mine planning.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform quality control (QC), processing, and validation of borehole geophysical and directional survey data.
- Process and interpret borehole geophysical logs, including gamma, density, resistivity, full wave sonic, caliper, magnetic susceptibility, acoustic televiewer (ATV), optical televiewer (OTV), deviation, temperature, and fluid logs.
- Correlate geophysical data with geological, structural, and drilling information to support mineral exploration and resource evaluation.
- Prepare geophysical logs, interpretation reports, and client deliverables in accordance with company standards.
- Produce daily, weekly, and monthly project reports.
- Support field operations by monitoring data quality, troubleshooting processing issues, and ensuring timely delivery of results.
- Maintain geophysical databases and ensure data integrity, confidentiality, and compliance with company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to support exploration, geotechnical, hydrogeological, and mining projects.
- Comply with Health, Safety, Environment and Quality (HSEQ) requirements and promote continuous improvement.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Geophysics, Applied Geophysics, Geology, Earth Sciences, or a related discipline.
- 1–3 years’ experience in mining geophysics or borehole geophysical logging.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- High attention to detail with a commitment to data quality.
- Willingness to travel to mine and exploration sites.
- Valid driver’s licence is advantageous.
Preferred Skills
- In-depth knowledge of borehole geophysical logging and interpretation.
- Experience with software such as WellCAD, Leapfrog Geo, Datamine, ArcGIS, or similar tools.
- Programming or data analysis skills (Python, SQL, or equivalent) are advantageous.
- Understanding of mining geology, resource drilling, geotechnical, or hydrogeological applications.
