Job Overview

The Council for Geoscience (CGS) is inviting qualified earth science graduates to apply for the Geology Internship (x7 positions) based at their Head Office in Pretoria. Under the guidance of senior scientific personnel, successful candidates will undertake research in engineering geology and exploration projects.

This program offers an excellent entry point for young geoscientists looking to gain practical industry exposure, contribute to mapping, and present research findings in a professional setting.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct guided geoscience research, including data collection, basic analysis, and interpretation.
• Solve basic geoscientific problems following standard operating procedures (SOPs).
• Participate in supervised exploration geology projects and field activities.
• Assist in compiling technical and scientific reports under supervision.
• Support geoscience data capturing, map compilation, and collation.
• Give formal scientific or technical presentations at internal and external events/conferences.
• Publish research findings internally and externally based on project requirements.
• Maintain field equipment and comply with ISO work standards and best practices.
