Job Purpose
The Senior Exploration Geologist will lead and participate in a wide range of geological and exploration activities across Abu Dhabi's hydrocarbon basins.
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
Exploration play reviews
Prospect ranking and maturation
Hydrocarbon resource assessment
Exploration well proposals
Geological interpretation and correlation
Basin analysis studies
Technical evaluations
Consultant management and quality control
Support to senior management and exploration teams
This role plays a critical part in identifying and evaluating future exploration opportunities within ADNOC's portfolio.
Key Responsibilities
Exploration Studies and Prospect Evaluation
The selected candidate will:
Lead conventional, tight gas, and deep gas exploration studies.
Conduct regional geological evaluations.
Perform well log interpretation and correlation.
Prepare reservoir property maps and play maps.
Generate prospect maps and geological models.
Conduct prospect ranking and maturation studies.
Support volumetric calculations and hydrocarbon resource assessments.
Integrate geological, engineering, geophysical, and drilling data.
Exploration Well Planning
Responsibilities include:
Developing exploration well proposals.
Supporting snapshot evaluations.
Recommending core acquisition programs.
Proposing pressure measurement campaigns.
Planning wireline logging activities.
Identifying opportunities to deepen wells for additional exploration targets.
Geological Consultancy and Project Management
The Senior Exploration Geologist will:
Prepare scopes of work (SOW) for geological studies.
Participate in technical tender evaluations.
Monitor consultant performance.
Conduct quality control reviews of technical studies.
Ensure compliance with project objectives and contractual requirements.
Present study findings to management and stakeholders.
Database and Data Management
Key duties include:
Managing geological and exploration databases.
Quality controlling incoming technical data.
Calibrating exploration datasets.
Supporting GIS and digital data initiatives.
Maintaining data integrity and accessibility.
Strategy and Business Support
The role also involves:
Assisting with exploration strategy development.
Supporting annual budget preparation.
Contributing to risk registers and audit reports.
Participating in ADNOC transformation initiatives.
Supporting bid rounds and licensing activities.
Preparing technical presentations and data packages.
Training and Mentoring
The successful candidate will:
Mentor junior exploration geologists.
Support the development of UAE National employees.
Prepare structured training programs.
Monitor employee development and progress.
Share technical knowledge and industry best practices.
Technology and Innovation
Responsibilities include:
Evaluating new geological software solutions.
Recommending hardware and software upgrades.
Monitoring emerging exploration technologies.
Participating in conferences and technical workshops.

Required Qualifications
Education
Bachelor's Degree in Geology, Geophysics, or equivalent.
Experience
