Job Description
Saudi Gold Refinery is seeking a highly skilled Geophysicist to lead geophysical exploration programs across multiple exploration projects.
The role involves:
Designing geophysical surveys
Processing and interpreting geophysical data
Developing 2D and 3D geological models
Identifying high-priority drilling targets
Supporting resource estimation and mine planning
Managing exploration contractors
Ensuring compliance with Saudi mining regulations
The Geophysicist will report directly to the Vice President of Exploration and contribute to the company's long-term exploration strategy.
Key Responsibilities
Survey Design and Planning
Design airborne and ground geophysical surveys.
Select appropriate survey methods and acquisition parameters.
Optimize survey programs for mineral discovery.
Data Processing and Interpretation
Process geophysical datasets.
Interpret magnetic, gravity, IP, resistivity, and related datasets.
Develop integrated geological and geophysical models.
Geological Target Generation
Identify prospective structures and lithological units.
Generate and rank exploration drill targets.
Support exploration decision-making with technical recommendations.
Contractor Management
Supervise geophysical contractors.
Monitor survey quality and safety performance.
Verify data quality before project acceptance.
Regulatory Compliance
Prepare technical reports.
Ensure compliance with Saudi mining regulations.
Support reporting requirements to the Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources (MIM).
Database Management
Maintain exploration databases.
Ensure data quality, accessibility, and long-term storage.
Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE)
Follow company HSE standards.
Minimize environmental impacts during exploration activities.
Promote safe field operations.
Strategic Exploration Support
Provide geophysical input for resource estimation.
Assist exploration leadership with technical evaluations and project planning.
Required Qualifications
Applicants should possess:
Bachelor's Degree in Geophysics, Geology, or Earth Sciences.
Minimum 7 years of mineral exploration geophysics experience.
Experience in the Arabian Shield region preferred.
Strong knowledge of exploration geophysics.
Expertise in survey design and interpretation.
Understanding of structural geology.
Experience with Saudi mining regulations.
Strong communication and technical reporting skills.
Fluency in English.
Preferred Qualifications
Candidates with the following will have an advantage:
Master's Degree or PhD in Geophysics or Economic Geology.
Experience with Induced Polarization (IP) surveys.
Experience with resistivity surveys in desert environments.
Knowledge of JORC or NI 43-101 reporting standards.
Arabic language skills.
Membership of the Society of Exploration Geophysicists (SEG).
Software Skills
The ideal candidate should be proficient in:

GIS platforms
Geological modeling software
Geophysical interpretation tools
