Job Objective
The Drilling Fluids Specialist will provide UAE-based wellsite fluid engineering support for day-to-day drilling operations. The successful candidate will assist with drilling fluid program execution, operational planning, technical support, and delivery of best practices on behalf of PPC.
The role requires close coordination with Petroleum Engineers, drilling teams, and customer representatives to ensure efficient drilling fluid performance and operational success.
Key Responsibilities
The selected candidate will be responsible for:
Drilling Fluid Operations
Execute drilling fluids programs at onshore and offshore drilling rigs.
Maintain water-based, oil-based, and synthetic-based mud systems.
Monitor drilling fluid properties and recommend treatment programs.
Formulate and prepare drilling fluid systems according to well requirements.
Mitigate drilling problems through technical recommendations.
Wellsite Support
Provide daily wellsite engineering support.
Coordinate with drilling representatives and service providers.
Maintain high communication standards with clients and engineering teams.
Support drilling, completion, and workover operations.
Reporting & Analysis
Prepare daily mud reports.
Complete End of Well Reports (EOWR).
Conduct pre-well and post-well analysis.
Provide recommendations for future drilling campaigns.
Maintain accurate cost tracking and inventory records.
Laboratory & Equipment Management
Operate and maintain mud laboratory equipment.
Conduct equipment verification, calibration, and cleaning.
Ensure laboratory testing accuracy.
Maintain inventory of chemicals and consumables.
Inventory & Logistics
Manage drilling fluid product inventory.
Ensure adequate stock levels at rig sites.
Coordinate logistics requirements.
Monitor material consumption and usage trends.
Solids Control & Waste Management
Monitor solids control systems.
Support drilling waste management operations.
Ensure optimal performance of solids control equipment.
Quality, Safety & Compliance
Follow company QHSE standards.
Maintain environmental compliance.
Support sustainability initiatives.
Ensure compliance with customer and regulatory requirements.
Promote safe work practices across all operations.
Required Qualifications
Candidates should possess one of the following:
Bachelor's Degree in Petroleum Engineering
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering
Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering
Equivalent Technical Science Qualification with extensive field experience
Additional qualifications include:
Mud School Certification
Drilling Fluids Training
Competency Assessment Completion
Strong understanding of drilling fluid chemistry
Experience Requirements
Applicants should have:
5–8 years of experience as a Drilling Fluids Specialist or Mud Engineer.
Experience with water-based mud (WBM) systems.
Experience with oil-based mud (OBM) systems.
Experience with synthetic-based mud systems.
Knowledge of completion fluids.
Experience in drilling waste management.
Strong solids control experience.
International drilling operations experience.
GCC experience preferred.
UAE experience preferred.
Offshore drilling operations experience highly preferred.
