🧭 What You’ll Do

As a Project Geology Engineering Geologist, you will:

  • Conduct field investigations, including trenching, drilling, geologic mapping, and geotechnical instrumentation

  • Create detailed geologic maps and cross sections

  • Analyze complex geologic data for design, construction, and maintenance of SWP facilities

  • Prepare clear, concise technical reports

  • Provide geologic support for urgent response efforts and field emergencies

  • Collaborate with contractors and inspect construction sites across the state

  • Travel across California, including overnight trips to remote locations

This role places you at the center of California’s geological and water infrastructure challenges—where your knowledge can truly make a difference.

🏆 What Makes You a Great Fit

  • Strong field geology experience in engineering geology projects

  • Familiarity with California’s diverse geologic environments

  • Hands-on experience with drilling, trenching, geotechnical instrumentation, and construction site inspections

  • Knowledge of dam, levee, spillway, and aqueduct systems

  • Experience with GIS, CAD, spreadsheets, and geological databases

  • Clear and professional technical writing and communication skills

  • A valid California Geologist or Engineering Geologist License (especially for Range D)

  • Bonus points for specialty licenses like CEG or CHG!
